Kids can build their own sailboat, learn by doing and enjoy friendly races in the water with almost no wind required.

How did FunBoats come about?

We wanted to create a fun, accessible way for the children of Anguilla to connect with a proud part of island culture. A sailboat kit felt like the perfect fit: something they could build themselves, understand quickly and race with friends.

FunBoats began with a simple idea: celebrate Anguilla's national sport in a way that feels hands-on, creative and achievable for children. Instead of only watching sailing, kids get to participate in it on their own scale.

The result is a kit that encourages imagination, building, play and friendly competition. It is part craft project, part mini engineering challenge and part race-day excitement.

Most importantly, it creates a memorable experience that feels local, joyful and shareable.

What materials were used and why?

The design focuses on lightweight, water-friendly and cost-effective materials that help the boats move quickly with very little wind.
