Pool Noodles
Pool noodles help create a buoyant structure that stays light in the water and makes the boat easier to handle for children.
FunBoats was created as an easy, affordable and exciting way for the children of Anguilla to celebrate their national sport. Each kit turns simple materials into a lightweight mini sailboat that can be built, floated and raced with friends.
Kids can build their own sailboat, learn by doing and enjoy friendly races in the water with almost no wind required.
We wanted to create a fun, accessible way for the children of Anguilla to connect with a proud part of island culture. A sailboat kit felt like the perfect fit: something they could build themselves, understand quickly and race with friends.
FunBoats began with a simple idea: celebrate Anguilla's national sport in a way that feels hands-on, creative and achievable for children. Instead of only watching sailing, kids get to participate in it on their own scale.
The result is a kit that encourages imagination, building, play and friendly competition. It is part craft project, part mini engineering challenge and part race-day excitement.
Most importantly, it creates a memorable experience that feels local, joyful and shareable.
“What better way than to have children build their own sailboat and even race it with friends?”
The design focuses on lightweight, water-friendly and cost-effective materials that help the boats move quickly with very little wind.

Bamboo skewers offer a simple, lightweight way to create masts and support pieces without adding much weight.
Foam sheets are inexpensive, easy to cut and shape, and naturally suited for building water-resistant parts and sails.
The kit is designed to move from build time to play time quickly, making it ideal for family activities, group events and friendly race days.
Assemble the pieces into your own mini sailboat using light, kid-friendly materials and a simple process.
Float the finished boat and watch how the lightweight design helps it respond quickly with only a little wind.
Turn playtime into a challenge by racing boats, trying new designs and seeing whose build performs best.
Beyond being fun, the project was designed with affordability, low energy use and minimal environmental impact in mind.
Because the materials are so light, the boat can get moving without needing much wind to create excitement.
FunBoats does not rely on combustion or battery-powered propulsion, which keeps the experience simple and clean.
No fuel burned means less pollution and a gentler environmental footprint while still delivering memorable fun.
